Tort, Insurance and Product Liability

The firm's Tort, Insurance and Product Liability Group defends the interests of policyholders of commercial, business and individual insurance. The group handles litigation arising from product liability, professional liability, wrongful death, toxic exposure, catastrophic accidents, premises liability and other tort claims.

The group handles defense of personal injury, property damage and contract claims on behalf of national and international product manufacturers, as well as product distributors and retailers. The group has successfully defended a wide range of product liability claims involving both finished products and component parts of appliances, trucks, automobiles, construction materials and equipment, electrical products and components, farming equipment, manufacturing equipment, disposable butane lighters, medical devices, and heavy lift equipment, among others. In addition to defense of claims associated with the products themselves, the group is called upon to resolve the contractual, indemnity and warranty issues that frequently arise in product liability actions. The group employs a proactive, result-oriented approach in all phases of product liability defense from the first notice of a claim through final appeal.

In addition to representing manufacturers and insurers, the group often is called upon by insurance carriers to engage in pre-suit investigation and claims resolution, to give guidance on coverage issues and to litigate coverage-related matters.
