Bio
Blake Matthews is a partner in Cornelius & Collins, LLP, and is currently a member of the firm's Executive Committee. The focus of his practice is civil litigation in the areas of employer/employee relations, commercial litigation, and commercial and business transactions. Blake also represents professional and trade associations, serving as general counsel for business affairs. He represents plaintiffs and defendants, and is admitted to practice in all state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Blake has been recognized numerous times by his peers for his significant and successful experience as an attorney. He was recently asked to serve on the advisory commission to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development's Administrative Review Section. Blake appears regularly before the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and represents clients throughout the administrative process, prior to the commencement of litigation. Blake has been featured as a lecturer on various topics to attorney groups and professional associations. He has also been selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers of America in 2009 for his commercial litigation success, as well as Best Lawyers of America in 2012 for his workers' compensation practice.
Blake received his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude, and was named to the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Blake was also elected to membership in The Order of the Coif, the highest honor bestowed upon graduates of the College of Law for academic excellence. Following graduation, Blake has served multiple terms on the College of Law’s Alumni Advisory Council. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
