Mock Trial Team Places in State Competition

Ben Rose, a partner with Cornelius & Collins, LLP, coached the Ravenwood High School Mock Trial Team to a 7th place win at the 32nd annual Tennessee State High School Mock Trial Competition.  The team also received two Best Witness awards. The Mock Trial Compeition, a two-day state-wid competition, placed 13 high school teams against one another over multiple rounds of trial competitions held at the Metro Davidson county Courthouse in downtown Nashville, with Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Gary Wade presiding over the championship match.  Ben coached his team to argue a fictious civil case -  full of characters, complex facts, and tricky legal issues.  The Ravenwood team, having won its respective district competitioner, displayed exceptional skill and... continue reading

Bryan Williams Named "Super Lawyers" Rising Star

Ben Rose Coaches Mock Trial Team to District Win

The Ravenwood High School Mock Trial team recently competed in the  High School Mock Trial District Championship. Coached by Cornelius & Collins’ Ben M. Rose, the Ravenwood Mock Trial team defended their title as district champs and went on to defeat their competitors and win the title of district champions for the second consecutive year.  This is also the Ravenwood team's third district championship in eight years.  Team member, Alex Dileo, was individually recognized as "Best Student Attorney" in the competition. Congratulations to the talented, hard-working students of the Ravenwood High School Mock Trial team and to Ben, their dedicated coach!

Cole Dowsley Named as a Partner

J. Cole Dowsley, Jr. was recently named as a partner with Cornelius & Collins, LLP.  Cole joined the firm in 2005 as an associate, after obtaining his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law.  While in law school, Cole served on the Editorial Board of the Tennessee Law Review.  He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. As a partner, Cole will continue to focus his practice on the representation of businesses and individuals in civil cases in both state and federal court, with an emphasis in tort, commercial, and construction litigation.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.  He recently appeared... continue reading

J.K. Simms to Argue Before Sixth Circuit

On November 30, 2011, J.K. Simms, a partner of Cornelius & Collins, LLP, will argue before an en banc panel of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.  J.K. will appear before a full court of seventeen (17) judges on behalf of the Defendant-Appellee, Humboldt Acquisition Corp., in the case of Lewis v. Humboldt Aquisition Corp. J.K., along with associate attorney J. Cole Dowsley, previously argued and secured a defense verdict in this matter before a jury in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
